Dedicated to My Son
As I sit here looking at my son, I see his daddy’s face, His big brown eyes look up at me, No one can take his place.
My little man is soft and warm, And full of life and love, And I say a quiet thanks to the Lord, For sending him from above.
I loved his dad so very much, When we were man and wife, With hearts of love we created this child, Who would brighten up my life.
My son is very dear to me, More precious than diamonds and pearls, And I reach out and touch his cheek, And run my hands through his curls.
He’s so alert and bright and sweet, His kisses are like honey, And everyday he hugs my neck, And says, “I love you mommy.”
My son’s been blessed with the best of two worlds, Created from black and from white, With pretty tan skin and a head full of curls, And a mind that’s so quick and bright.
My child was sent to show the world, That people are basically the same, And we all should live in harmony, And love is the name of the game.
So if you see a little child, Who’s a mixture of the races, Just look at them and see the beauty, And the love upon their faces. Maybe then you will realize, That all people need the same things, Respect and love and peace of mind, That only understanding can bring.

Dedicated to My Son Again
I wrote a very special poem for you Such a very long time ago It said how very proud I was of you And how I loved you so.
So many years have passed since then And you’ve become a man That love for you has only grown and You’ll never know how proud I am.
I only hope I taught you well The tools to succeed in life And coping skills and stamina To survive through all the daily strife.
I wish for you so many things Good health and success to name a few Happiness ranks up among the top Of the dreams I have for you.
I hope you will always remember The lessons I tried to teach you And as you go through life’s ups and downs These things will help you through.
One last thing I want to say is Choose a career that will serve you well You’ll have to do it every day Not enjoying it would be hell.
If ever you feel that you need me Don’t let pride get in the way Remember always I’m there for you And my love grows every day.
As you leave home and move on with life I will miss you every day But I know that you will do great things That you couldn’t if you were to stay.
Please love and be happy Stay healthy and complete school Ask God to guide you each day And remember I’ll always love you.
Love always,
Mom

Always and Forever Juneau
Dear God,
Why didn’t I say I was sorry ,
When I knew he was a stubborn man,
Why did I turn my head away
Instead of telling him I loved him again?
These are things I will have to deal with
For the rest of my life through
He was my heart and soul, my everything
The love of my life, so true.
Now, all I have left is memories
Of the love that we both shared,
And I only hope he believed me
When I said how much I cared.
At least he will not be in pain every day
Trying to put on a brave face,
He’s at peace with You now,
But no one will ever take his place.
Always and Forever I will love you, Juneau.
